Boris Johnson, the Mayor of London, yesterday unveiled a life-size replica of the new London bus. British design wunderkind Thomas Heatherwick was involved in the project and it shows. It looks like an absolute cracker; a pleasing mix of retro flourishes and modern detail with excellent eco credentials. And, just like the old Routemaster, it has an open back section meaning you can jump off when you like. The bus hits London’s streets in 2012.
