Ghostpoet’s debut album Peanut Butter Blues and Melancholoy Jam is a stripped back, trip hop styled affair; all looping drum beats and sparse, glitchy electro. As he slurs and mumbles through his tracks, wistful and forlorn, you get the distinct impression you’re listening to the drunken lovechild of Tricky and Roots Manuva.
It’s beautiful, brilliant and thoroughly deserving of his Mercury Prize nomination.
