The world’s most ancient seller of records isn’t in New York or London but Welsh capital, Cardiff. Spillers was founded in 1894 to sell wax cylinders and gramophones, and later traded at the same address in the Hayes for 60 years or so until 2010. Threatened by rising rents, they now have a home in the nearby Morgan Arcade where they continue to be a favourite with bands including the Manic Street Preachers, the Zutons and the Super Furry Animals.
If you’re ever in Cardiff go and buy a record!
