Event: Peter Pan Cup

Swimmers compete in the Peter Pan Cup, Hyde Park London

Ever since Christmas Day in 1864, members of the Serpentine Swimming Club have been plunging themselves into the icy Serpentine lake to swim 100 yards in the hopes of winning the prestigious Peter Pan Cup. Only members with experience of swimming in the lake in winter are permitted to enter, but this slightly mental ritual always draws an enthusiastic crowd of spectators.

If you’re thinking of a pre-turkey constitutional on Christmas morn, then head along to Hyde Park at 9am to watch the race and take a wander through the rather lovely and wintry park.
