Britain’s most northerly and luxurious bus shelter

Unst is the most northerly inhabited island in the British Isles. In fact, it’s so far north it may as well be in Norway. And with just a few hours of daylight in winter and weather that would make an Icelander shiver in his kipper slippers, it’s a good job the locals have access to a rather special bus shelter.

It all started in 1996 when the aforementioned weather destroyed the original shelter and a new one was ‘improved’ by unknown parties. Today the shelter regularly changes themes, décor and furniture to the delight of locals and tourists.
